I am selling at 1.0 for a package of 35 events, starting June 2nd, at this year's World Series. The package takes on all varities of mixed game, a number of the smaller holdem events, and ends in the Main Event. I will provide full updates of each event on this thread. I decided to learn all the mixed games in 2010, by using six months as an intensive course to take coaching and study all the different games. Since then, I have topped up each year, and this year have taken coaching again in the three stud games, triple draw and Pot Limit Omaha hi-lo. I believe my strength is that I have tried to remain equally strong across all the different games, which is particularly useful in the mixed events (Dealer's Choice, 8-game, etc). The mixed games provide different extents of value. In the smaller buy-ins, there can sometimes be unbelievable value, to the extreme of players never having played the game before. In the $10,000 events, the value comes from a few recreational players, and the bigger name holdem pros wanting to play the events, without being at all specialist in them.


The total value of the package (the maximum possible loss) is $113,750. Percentages, selling at 1.0, will be worked out on that figure.

I have a schedule of events totalling $153,750, but the final four mixed game $10,000 events will only be played if the package has cashed for the appropriate amount before that event. This will ensure the maximum possible loss of $113,750. These four events are listed at the end.

There will inevitably (at least hopefully!) be some missed events, because of involvement in the previous event. In that sense, the only two events that I am absolutely guaranteed to play are the first event and the Main Event. I will decide whether to enter an event using start of level four cut-off. The "non buy-ins" should also include some re-entries that are not required, in the seven smaller re-entry events.


Based on a $113,750 package, selling at 1.0, the prices are:

0.5%- $568.75
1%- $1,137.50
2%- $2,275
5%- $5,687.50
etc

In the incredibly unlikely case that it is relevant, I am happy to sell up to 50% of the package.

Payment by bank, Stars, or cash in Vegas.

In the cases of payment by GBP, we will note the rate of xe.com exchange on the day of payment, and use it for transfers back.

The first event starts 3pm today. Feeling excited to go. It's one of the more bizarre ones- a three game mix of 2-7 triple draw, A-5 low ball, and badugi.

Triple draw we want 75432, lowball we want 5432A, badugi  Ac 2h 3d 4s

$2500 mixed triple draw, first break

End of level two, down to 8,200 from 12,500. A few simple 'didnt get there' spots, but then a slightly yucky but interesting one before the break.

Dealt  Jd  Th 9c 2s in badugi, which is a mediocre made hand. Raise CO at 100-200, hoping to go heads up, most likely against someone drawing two. But, button three bets, and BB cold calls. The button's three bet will be about 70% good one card draws and 30% badugi. The one thing I cannot do is just flat, and stand pat, as I make msyelf vulnerable by turning my weak pat hand face up. So, the right option is to four bet. Button caps to five bets. BB folds and I call. The button now, whilst you can never be certain, should have badugi. I pat, he pats. I check, he bets.

This is nasty. He almost definitely has me beat. The options are

1) Call, pat again and check turn. Hoping for a check down, but planning to check fold turn.

2) Fold now

3) It is actually an option to call and draw three, getting 12.5 to 1 immediate odds. Which is very unusual but not as ridiculous as it seems.

I think I'm slightly short of the odds for 3), so actually choose to fold now. It seems a bizarre play of the hand, to go five bets and then fold to one bet on the first draw, but I think it's the only way to go with an unbreakable hand.

Restarting at 125-250.

Down to 4,500. Ran bad Vs the same guy

A5 lowball. Make 76532 on the turn against him drawing 2. He calls, draws one, and checks. I make a tight decision to value bet river. He check raises. Ouch. It's 95% that I only beat a bluff. He hasn't done, or looked like doing, anything out of line at all, so I make a tight decision to fold.

Onto badugi, I start with a nice T952 badugi. He draws 2, then 2, then 1. He checks river, and it is really tight whether to value bet. I check- given I have been pat from the start, he really shouldn't (albeit might) call a Jack. He actually has made A543 for the 4th nuts. I guess his logic was that if I do bet, I'm not going to fold again in the same spot

Then lost a 1 Vs 1 2-7 river spot, not running good

Mid level five, (200-400), busted, and so rebought. That was a shame, was very swingy, got to a height of 15,000, and then promptly lost every pot to lose it all. Busted in a three way spot that gave me a good opportunity to treble- I started 7432 for the best one card draw, and got almost all the money in pre draw. They both drew two, we got the rest of my money in after the first draw. So I had three shots at it but hit the delightful  Kc Kd and Qs.

This is making me wonder slightly what I missed out on, very different table! Very splashy, and one guy is limping (literally) every pot. There's going to be some profitable but high variance spots

OUT on the second bulet. Got back down to starting stack, and then unavoidbaly lost every pot from that point. But before that, there was just one pot to contemplate. It was a loose passive table, so there were some unconventional pots! We went four way, and drew (2-2-PAT-1), with me being the pat on the button. I made J73A badugi, and the PAT cutoff bet again. It's really close in a big pot. He was pretty tight passsive, but unconventional enough that he may be patting any kind of badugi (even four way), making it right for me to raise and stand pat with my poor badugi. I decided to just call, which would probably freeze him into not betting the river, and thus allow me to have an easy fold if he did check the river. Of course the disadavtnage of not raising is that raiisng has more chance of knocking one or both of the other players off the pot. Ultimately, I decided to call, and one of the players drawing 2 called and drew one. He bet straight out on the river, which felt then like the easiest fold ever given the way he had played. But it's frustrating if me raiisng the turn would potentially hve knocked him out.

Anyway, a fun tournament, and it felt like it went OK apart from those couple of tricky pots described.

Two semi interesting pots:

Raise  Ahrt Kd 7s 3c HJ, sexton 3bets button. I have no suits so just call. Flop Js 3d 2c. I have one pair and bad low draw. I check, he bets, I call

Turn Js 3d 2c Jd. I check, he bets. Low draw may not be good. Probably beaten for high. I fold

Raise Ahrt Qc Td 4c HJ, button calls. Flop Qh 8c 4s. I have two pair, no low draw. Turn Qh 8c 4s 9h. I bet, he calls.

River Qh 9c 4s 9h 8h. I have AQ. Ace of hearts in my hand helps a bit. I bet, he calls, and it's a nice value bet.

Got 53k, 50k start, although starting blinds are 300-500 and structure a little quicker than you would think

Nasty one. Raise  Aspades  Ahrt 9c 2s. Flop  Ad 9s 4s. Have it smashed (although the 9 is worse than say a ten, as it restricts FH outs and makes a set over set less likely)

A blank or board pair would be lovely.

Interesting one, was this an (albeit small) angle? I limp A532 at 500-1000 UTG, SB calls, BB (who obviously has the option to check or raise) puts in 1k and says 'call.' He shows up with AA55. If it was an angle, it's to make an 'accidental raise' to induce me to three bet. I guess he decide to just call (given he apparently thinks there has been a raise) with AA55 , but it Seems unlikely.

Made it through to day two, with 106,500. A good day.

Had been just below starting til the end of level six, then had a great 7th level.

Amusing hand at the end where I had AQJ2 and we went 4-way 3bet pre to a turn of  8d 5c 4s 8h. I bet the turn 4-way for value, thinking I had almost no high value but there was more likely none sharing my low than 2 sharing it.

River was  8d 5c 4a 8h Ts, so I really assumed I had no high, and it was checked three way (now felt very unlikely that there wasn't another A2). There was indeed another A2, but amazingly I had the high with AQ high.

Tomrrow would be a good day to run well. 2pm restart.

missed the boat this year sadly

last year when i had a tiny piece, stu was incredibly helpful and patient. i had put up a couple hundred quid to a stranger playing a 50k+ month long schedule 5000 miles away.he responded to messages and wrote detailed posts through the tournaments when winning or losing.

Cheers Simon. It's definitely close. Presuming I keep any card 9 or lower, there are 21 cards I can catch to improve to a 2 card draw. I guess I am about 85% to improve to at least a two card draw, 20% to a one card draw, and 5% to make a 9-badugi or better. The problem is that there is some reversed implied odds element, if he does currently have a very smooth nine or better- in that I may sometimes be paying money to draw dead, and may lose two bets on the end if I make the 2nd best hand. And not a great implied odds factor, as if I make the best hand on the river, I simply collect one bet. Saying all that, it's definitely close.

Today- an adrenaline come down meant I struggled to sleep, and the two 10 hour days meant I slept well when I did! So, having missed the start of the 11am $1500 NLHE and still maybe in need for a couple of hours to take stock, I think I'll just play the $1500 NL deuce to seven . Sorry about the change. We can almost definitely replace the $1500 NL with NL event(s), down the line. (I'll message people obviously if we do to see if they want in).

That was a lot of fun yesterday, adrenaline all the way. It was a shame to miss the 3 spots to get to circa 250k, so given my stack situation on the bubble, the strategy to hang on was pretty clear. The hand where I was up to 120k and lost a lot after raising  Ahrt Ad Td 2c vs Gordo's blind is the close one, but I think it's right given that I can execute some kind of pot control in position. The WSOP had a fairly comical rule that on the bubble, "you cannot leave your seat, unless you leave the tournament area," which left a fairly easy loophole for people given that all three tables could be seen pretty easily from the rail! So, given the clear path to hanging on, it was both desperate and fun to sweat the bubbling eventually bursting.


Really loving the whole atmosphere of the Series, and feel very lucky to have the chance to play so many events. Today's deuce to seven is a special one, it has the real mix of everyone, including sometimes people unfamiliar with the rules. Definitely one to watch every showdown, as people will play with far bigger transparencies and holes than you would ever see in holdem.

I don't think that AAT2 can be a fold anywhere.   Just a bit unlucky, cards run bad sometimes.  Imagine how dirty you'd have felt for days folding that.   $20 comp online, you'd do your stack with that hand.   There is a good chance I would anyway.    Best to just move on and gl with the next.

I 'make' 54322 (pair of deuces) and check. He bets 500. A pairis obviously not good in low game, but it should beat all bluffs (with the very small advantage that I have the nut pair hand!)

SB draws one, but now the big blind surprisingly pats. This is an understandable move, but really does turn his hand face up as weak (presumably a pat jack most of the time)

So I decided to pat 99632 and Bluff. SB checks (good news), BB checks (expected).

Obviously level one of patting after flat calling is that he is almost definitely weak, but level two is that he knows that I know that he is weak. However, whatever disadvantage that causes is made up for by the fact that I have a great spot to bluff small, because that is what he might expect me to do if I did have anything I believed to be the better pat hand. I bet 600 into 1375 and take it down

I 3bet to 3,900, he puts me in for 15k. He has a one card draw, I think it's a slight overplaying of his hand, but there is a good argument for it.

I pat, he draws one, has 7652, and doesn't catch his 8 outer.

One unusual thing about this game is that when the all in decision is on me, despite my absolute monster, it's completely normal and ethical for me to tank the all-in call. Its because its not the last action (there is still a drawing decision to be made), and of course is a ploy to suggest uncertainty and to get him to pay an inferior hand.

He has just lost a big band to put him down to 37,500. I raise J7643 UTG1 to 8,500. He shoves. Its very close between

1) fold
2) call and draw
3) call and pat.

I think it's just about a call, at better than 2 to 1. He has played quite splashy, and seems the type of player to go all in light after losing a big pot. If a one card draw is 9864 or better and a pat hand is T8742 or better, then he has the one card draw approximately four times as much. He may not go all with all one card draws, however. If I call and draw, I have the disadvantage of a gutshot to make a useless straight.

I think it's a call and pat. It's horrible if he pats behind - I am almost definitely dead, but it feels like he will draw about 2/3rds of the time, which will make me a 7/12ths favourite.

He does sadly pat, and has 97632.

This is feeling exciting, feeling very lucky to be here and in amongst it all. Its felt quite possible to hit the relaxed but excited mode when playing. We play down to 7 tonight.

Nirvana in the terms of the games - the easy answer is that this may well be the best value event. Well, it's at least up there with the $ 1500 dealers choice. It's definitely a contender for the most fun too. Seven handed, such a pure mix of luck and skill- the luck element obvious when it comes so often down to the drawing of one card, and the skill element strong with alot of maths involved, and a variety of opportunities to bluff. Mostly though, it's a game that almost no one knows how to play properly. I've definitely seen the standard improve over the years, but there is a real feeling of people trying to work it out as they go along.

If you tank-pat are you more likely to get a T to pat behind and likewise more likely to get a draw if you snap? Or is this so obvious that its better just taking same time every time?

I wonder with a player like him if a snap pat might have been more likely to induce? Obviously doesnt matter when he has his hand as hes never breaking it right patVpat?

A very good question, Patrick.

Your instincts are right. Plus, of course, out of position at least, there are two decisions where timing will vary- the all in call decision, and the pat or draw decision.  As I said before, it would be completely ethical even to tank the all in call with the nuts, just as it would be on the turn in holdem.

I would say...

Level one is that, hesitation before patting means a weak pat hand, a quick decision means strength.

Level two is that, as you suggest, it is quite clever to reverse that. Hesitate with strength, and pat quickly with a mediocre hand in an attempt to make them break a slightly better hand.

Level three - I've noticed increasingly that alot of pros just routinely use level two. You never get quite to see enough of these situations, but I'm fairly sure alot of good players actually just have a transparent (upside down) tell:, the quicker their pat, the weaker their hand. Thus, level three would be to reverse this, and actually use the 'honest' method of patting quickly with strength.

Level four- I don't think the game has progressed enough even online to this pint, but once all these clever antics are established and recognisable, the evening out point would be just to tank the same amount of time on all decisions.

Back to level three, and back to the idea of using the timing across both the call and the pat decision, I do think currently there is one acting job that is quite effective with a strong hand. That is to tank the call with strength, and immediately pat- as if, after you call decision, you have worried that your hesitation may be read as weak, and are trying to make up for it by patting quickly.

Tough hand at no limit deuce . I raise 8643x 4handed to 550, Jesse Martin 3bets the button to 1500. Standard call.

I make 86543, which is massive. I value bet 3,200.

He thinks for 30 seconds, and raises to 13,000.

The first question is whether I beat any of his value range. Only 7 hands beat me (75432, 76432,76532,76542, 85432,86432,86542).The first hand I beat is 87432. I just don't think he raises it. But, I have to attach some small weighting to it, I'm definitely not sure.

So, is he bluffing? I have seen no sevens and deuces , so it possible he patted something like K7722, planning to Bluff? I would say me not seeing the sevens and deuces is just as significant the other way round,that it gives him more pat sevens.

He is a very capable player, but I think the event brings about factors that make him less likely to Bluff. He will really rate himself across the mixed games and has been picking limit, not big bet, games. He has had a slight DS start, and i don't think will want to lose 16.5 in a pot.

I would have thought stud based games were pretty bad ones to pick with way less advantage being on the button. I think your edge over the table at stud hilo (surely worst game to pick) would have to be monstrous to make it better than going for a draw game where just being in position over a player with similar skill level would give big edge.

Completely depending on how I perceive the table. When either you or another stack is very short, there are definitely games that favour, and go against, the short stack. A split pot game with antes is best for the shorties (so, stud8 and stud hilo regular), and I would say that limit holdem is the worst for a short stack, and so best picked if you are not short.

Of course if you are lucky enough to get really deep, you may want to choose games purely dependant on how much skill there is in them. For example, if I was heads up against Ivey, I'm picking limit holdem.

Ah, but dealer picks not for a hand, but for a round. You're right, Dealers choice is as correctly named as the Champions League

I have a question for you if you have some time in the future, or perhaps someone else knows. You pick the game when you have the button? ie the place where you have positional advantage. Why would you ever pick a stud game where you now have no positional advantage? You should always pick a draw or flop game.

 I feel like I'm missing something, a detail or extra rule - what is it?

Good question. I think not. Because they're sometimes saying "all spectators behind the rail." I think the most you can have is a "care dog," which Mercier had that time.

In draw games, you get to choose how many cards you want to change. If you don't want to change any, you can "stand pat", which you can either do because you're happy with your hand or because you want your opponents to think you're happy with your hand.

Yesterday was intense. With 13 players and two and a half hours remaining, I predicted 9 or 10 would return. I was wrong; everybody did. Four handed in quick paced, changing games against three great players, I was determined to make no mistakes, but it felt that that was enough only to achieve parity. If there's one thing you don't want to happen in those circumstances in the desert, it's probably for the air conditioning to break.

Ouch. It was me against Russian in a big badugi pot. He dealt a flop exposing the Queen of the spades, which was the third card. So that became the second burn. He then burnt twice on the second draw. Russian goes mad again. Russian makes badugi on the double changed deck

I'm completely ambivalent to the fact that the deck was changed. A mistake that changes the order of the cards is all just part of the randomness. If that is in the dealer's hands, then so is every shuffle of the deck, and everything else, so it makes no sense to pinpoint one moment.

Dinner break straight after, the Russian continues to complain. Probably a good thing for the dealer that he won the hand. Ironically, the second mistake, which further changed the order, was almost definitely the classic situation of an incredibly agitated player causing the dealer to make a second mistake

Well, well, well.

Most importantly, the support means everything. I have quite literally done nothing but play poker and sleep since I got here last Friday, which means that it helps even more.

Well, it should be tough to get very lucky and have alot of fun for three and bit days, finish second and yet feel gutted. This is a poker forum, however, so I guess that's not news to anyone. I came nine days ago, dreaming not of money, but of the bracelet. I came close enough that it was placed next to me, and I walked away without it. I know I'll feel better soon.

I definitely ran bad heads up. Were it as complete and pure as that, I would feel no disappointment at all. Its ridiculous to feel down on your luck Heads up, when it has overall been very much on your side.

The only regrets would ever come if feel I should have done something differently. And I'm not sure. Maybe one stud hilo regular pot. But maybe that changes everything. Oh, to be able to go again, and limp rather than raise that QJ8 hand, against Adam's Queen of spades door card.

The other big decision was the game choice. I had thought about it alot the previous three days, but still one thing hadn't occured to me. I felt like I wanted to play Holdem against Adam, but not to push tiny edges shoving and reshoving. And then it occurred to me, the forgotten game, Pot limit holdem! It's the only pointless, unused game in a brilliant mix, but it made perfect sense Heads up.

We played two hands, but by the time it came back to my choice, something else was in the air. Adam had suggested that we both pick randomly every time. That suggestion was both alot of fun, and a very serious choice for me to get right. I felt he had an edge over me specifically in heads up Stud, but hadn't realised it yet. If I had an edge, it would be in Holdem, but it wasn't sizeable. I agreed to random picks.

Our random picks led to draw games, and I lost 4 unavoidable  hands. All good. I then doubled with the high only  Aspades Ad Kc Qd in PLO8, but half of my stack suffered an A5 vs AK limit holdem cooler, before I folded the turn. Stud hilo came next, and queens up won it for Adam, a fun and massively deserving winner.

The WSOP is wonderful in alot of ways, but not least that it always brings the next chance. We go again. Thanks so much guys.

An early bluff

I bluffed Adam in the early 27 NL hand. I drew two, he drew one, and I made a pair of fives. It's tough to bluff when you are two vs me, but I got the feeling that he may specifically bet small if he himself needed to bluff. So, I checked, planning to fold to a big bet, and check-raise bluff a small bet.

There had been history. Adam is a great guy, but a feisty character, who commentates his thoughts, on his own and other's poker. So, he had  expressed some dissatisfaction yesterday, with the Russian's speed of choice, and actual choice. When Makarov was short, his stress levels were not.

He deliberated for a while, and threw out a plaque. Stud hilo regular. He then went into a mini panic, grabbed it back and deliberated again. Cue Adam. Stress level high. I wasn't the slightest bit bothered, all part of the fun. The Russian throws a different plaque... No he doesn't, its the same one. Stud hilo regular. The dealer states the antes. Makarov panics again. He seizes them back. In my mind, this is both ridiculous, and doesn't matter at all. In Adam's mind, this is ridiculous and matters alot. Sparks fly. Makarov throws out PLO. Adam says 'ok, let's go.' But no, he takes them back again! With Adam in pieces, he soon throws out a 2-7 triple draw pot limit plaque. We play 2-7 pot limit triple draw. Makarov busts first hand.

Bruh, the dealer from New York

Poor Bruh the dealer. He's a good dealer. You can tell. It was Bruh who yesterday managed to make three mistakes in the same Badugi pot, which the Russian won against me. Whilst I am completely ambivalent to the fact that moments like that change the deck because its all part of the randomness, there was some irony in the fact that in a pot that Makarov won, the latter errors were almost definitively caused by his massive over reaction to the first. I think Bruh knew that his mistakes had changed it, and I wanted him to know that it really didn't matter; a butterfly flapping it's wings somewhere had changed everything too.

Bruh was back today, and you could tell had even more determination in his professional attitude. But, poor Bruh maybe was too determined, he fumbled my last card in 2-7 no limit. If you're a dealer, you always want a card that you fumble to be bad. Poor Bruh fumbled the deuce of spades. That should have been bad for me, but actually was the best news. I already had a deuce in my T632. My replacement card was a 7, to make a big hand. We got all in, and I doubled through Makarov. He deserves no anti-karma, he was alot of fun and did apologise yesterday. But I hope Bruh saw what had happened, and that it had all evened out in the end.

Class result mate, 2nd is always gutting but it's clear as day to anyone you'll be winning one pretty damn soon

An eventful start. Up to 65k but then a massive deuce cooler.

Good player raises UTG to 1200, I have the massive 86542 and 3bet to 4,200. He calls, I pat and he actually pats. I value bet 9k into 9,600 (standard).

He raises to 27,800. Hmmm. Its a call. I should beat enough of his value range to make it right to call given these odds, even if he can never bluff.

I call and he had the over whelmingly massive 76542. I think it will make the updates.

(The numbers.I have number 8. I am beaten by 75432, 76432, 76532, 76542, 85432, 86432,86532. He probably value raises 86543,87432 and 87542 at least, which makes it already enough to call)

Hmm a more realistic tournament. 26k. Miss two 1vs1, and then make 96432 and it's a standard call vs Benyamines 5500 bet after drawing one, as I beat a good chunk of his value hands.

I don't think there was anything I can do. There is one possible spot, which I'll write out below. But apart from that, seemed to miss every 1vs1 (it was due, I guess) and then this was the exit hand:

Monnette raises CO to 2000 at 400-800(200). Galen Hall calls small blind. I have 18,300 and 94322. It's call or ship. The extra deuce helps. I think it's a ship, its so hard for them to call off of they are a one card draw. If either (by far most likely Monette) calls and is pat, I will have 16 for 33%0outs  most of the time. And it gets through tons.

Monette reships and does have a pat T7532. 16 outs. Sadly a queen. Still gutting to bust, even though obviously I can't complain today!

When it is your pick, what are your thoughts when deep but short, I assume it wouldn't be as simple as picking your favourite game. Would you be picking games where it would be more likely you would have to commit most/all your chips or games where you could potentially have some betting freedom and be able to get away if needs be (hope that make sense.)

Pads-didn't manage to reply to deal suggestion yesterday. To be honest, I've actually never done a deal in my life, partly on slightly bizarre stubborn principle. I feel that Adam may well have refused heads up, but to be honest, it wasn't even a consideration at any point.

Cheers Geo. I'll try not to give the answer that could fit any poker question, of 'it depends,' as there really are ao many factors. I would say in general

If fairly short I would veer towards no limit holdem. Easy to gain nice equity with standard shoves.

If very short - you want a split pot game (less chance to bust), a limit game, and you want antes (more likely to get yours chips in, and so more likely to benefit from the extra dead money. So what you want is specifically stud hilo. If you were very short, there could even be circumstances where splitting the pot would be enough to triple up.

If the big stack This will depend more on how you perceive the table, but clearly you want whatever game you can push your weight and ICM pressure around in. That very probably is No Limit holdem

The other factors are:

How you perceive your opponent's weaknesses (I didn't find many!)

Where is the button? If you are really short, you want games that have a button if you are out of the blinds, and games without if you are in the blinds!

Ouch, made a big fold fifth street. Was 'correct' but very close whether I've got odds to call or not. I had Qh Qs Kc 7d 2h vs Boujian's (xx) 3h 4d 4c, and third player's (xx) 2h Th 6s. Third player raised fifth (with a draw, 2h Th 6s 3h 8h, pretty inexplicable in a three way pot, given it gives me a good chance to fold and its not quite for value), and Ishmael at that point had two pair. Will run a calculation when I'm back at computer, but I guess it feels right to fold if it's at best tiny +EV, in a good tournament

Right, I'm going to blame the Rio WiFi as well as me, but realised sorry that yesterday's last update didn't go through.

After the initial rise, it was a steady dip sadly, which ended in level seven. Bust out hand, I was down to 800 at 200-400(100), meaning a win would triple me up, and so went with (44)6 against a K door in late position (In stud hilo, its necessary to open up your calling all in range when very short, because of the antes creating big pots).

Before that, I had had to fold alot of sixth streets, which is never a good or cheap thing! Don't think I would change anything

All three options are there. I possibly should check raise Bluff. Its just not expected enough by most that I migh turn three Kings into a Bluff. I was putting it in light given 17k dead money and the chance to treble up should I succeed in getting Heads up, but im stud 8 found (2c Js) Jc, and the bring in put the rest off. He had (35)7 and caught all low cards. Never good news, he ended with (35)75832 for low and two pair, and our pair of Jacks remained a pair of Jacks.

He bets 1,200, I have 1,900 total.

I can't fold fifth given its 1,900 total to win 10,700. The question is whether I can fold for my last 700 if unimproved on 7th, given that he surely won't bet one pair of Kings. I call, and do indeed catch two pair with a Jh. He bets, I call, and he had indeed made trip Kings on 6th.

Today's event: day off

I would normally be kicking and screaming to have a day off from the WSOP, but leaving today as the potential one was a no brainer as the choice, as Gem arrived today.

That last 13 days has been full immersion, and I've loved that; any feeling of weariness is only short-lived, and replaced by the next event to look forward to. So, a day off, if nothing else, is useful in upping the excitment level in what is to come. Still, so many events in different forms of the game, with tomorrow mix of three Omaha hi-lo games being the classic example.

The WSOP gets me as soon as you walk down the Rio corridoors towards it. Now, there are more and more Brits arriving into town, and it's really easy to piggyback onto their enthusiasm.

If luck was "fair," I would get the opposite end of the deck to the lucky end that I have so far received. Thankfully, however, luck has no memory, and the experiences thus far have only increased my excitement at the chance to go deep again.

$1500 mixed Omaha hilo

They're all fun, but this stands out as one of the most fun.

The mix is 4card pot limit, then the 4 card limit, then 5card pot limit (Big O).

Will try to give some key principles and random thoughts on as we go, Iets see how many we can get to.

Principle 1

Maybe the most common mistake will be people overvaluing hands in the 5card Big O, partly aided by the comparison of the 4card pot limit game.

Compare the two hands Ac Ks 5d 2c in 4card, and
Ac Ks 9h 5d 2c in 5 card. The the difference is bigger than it seems. In five card there are 5 different ways you can be dealt the four card hand of AK52 one suit (all but the 1st card, all but the 2nd, etc). So if getting that combo is five times more likely, it's made further weak by the fact that its not only a nine that is added, but a nine that doesn't create a second suit. And so that it is 5card Ac Ks 9h 5d 2c, whilst still probably playable, is not quite what it seems.

First level is small, but got 6,900 after half an hour

5card PLO. Got counterfeited on the river.

Two limps at 25-50, I raise pot to 275 with Ahrt Aspades Ts 7c 2h. Both blinds and limpers call, five way. Pot 1375.

Flop Jh 6s 3c. Four checks. Just low draw, chance of blasting off four is too small. I check.

Turn Jh 6s 3c 5h. Nut low, nut flush draw. Big blind bets a small 600 into 1375, and first limper calls. I could now definitely raise the pot, and obviously be prepared to go with my hand all in. I will have 7 outs for definite high, 2 outs (board pairing heart) for possible high, and three other outs for probable split (non heart 4s for wheel). 6 cards will counterfeit my low (with slightly less weighting, given aces are more likely out)

Its very close, and so I decide on a variance reducing call.

River is Jh 6s 3c 5h 2c. Nasty. I still play a live ace for low, but the limper bets pot. It could be a nice move with just a straight (and me having the better low), but it's A4 to scoop me enough of the time, that I have to fold.

Which is good timing (if we assume it's a heads up pot) for.

Principle 2

On a heads up river, if you have a hand that is potentially good one way and face a pot sized bet, you must have at least  2/3rds of a chance of being good to make it at least break even to call. Because you will either lose a pot bet, or or gain half of the pot in the middle, the odds are 1 to 2 on, hence needing to be 2/3rds sure.

Principle 3

In the pot limit games, it's fine to limp EP and MP with playable hands.

Steal equity is limited, and with hand equities running close, it is often better to keep a big stack to pot ratio to try to make a good judgement on the flop.

A min raise to 200 UTG, I have Ahrt Ad 7c 5d 3h and make it 600. The button cold calls, and the original raiser calls.

Flop 5c 4d 2s (nut low, second nut high)

Check, I check, button bets 700. Raiser calls, I call.

Turn 5c 4d 2s 7d. Near perfect card. (two pair, a straight, nut flush draw, nut low)

Original raiser pots for 4200. I under call for 4,025 all in. Button folds

The original raiser does have the lot- AT963 for the flopped 6-high straight.

The river is for half the pot, and I need a spade, 7 or 5 to win the high half, and 6 to split it.

No good, it's 8c.

The exit hand was a shame. Two limpers to my button at 75-150, I have   Aspades Qc Jc 7h 4h and raise pot to 825. The big blind and two limpers come along.

Flop 6h 3h 2c (nut low, gutshot to seven high straight)

Big blind leads 1,400, first limper all in for 3,600.

I am obviously going with it, but a potentially big decision is whether to call to induce the big blind to come, or to move in to try to isolate. My analysis :

If the all in player shares A4 and the big blind doesnt have hearts, I want him in.

If the all in player shared A4 and the big blind does have hearts, and i want him out.

If neither player shares A4, I want the big blind in, to get more on my (near) lock half.

I decided my EV against ranges was just slightly better with the BB in rather than out, and so just called.

It probably made the difference. He thought for ages, but and just about went with it. It shouldnt make any difference to him whether I call or move in myself, as I'm obviously commited, but it felt like it did.

He had Ac Kh 8d 5d 5c, so did indeed have my hearts blocked. But there seemed to be better news:the limper had no A4 to share my nut low, but a fairly inexplicable AJJT2.

So I was in very good shape for low, with a gutshot sniff of high.

Sadly the turn brought a 4 to kill my low, and the board ran out 63244, for the big blind to scoop it all.

As the cards did lie (which is of course a nonsense way to look at the hand) I would have got three quarters of it had I got the big blind out
