Ive actually seens TightPaulFolds sit in a cash game with the Ace flush and take a few mins to consider if his opponent had made the straight flush draw on the board.  He made the call but it was because he had decided he wasnt up against the straight flush.  I reckon Tight Paul Folds to the river reraise here, he'd smell the straight flush, in fact I can almost here him saying "What else could he be raising on after the river"

cheeeeeeeeeeeck, Ive got him on an ace and the ace hits, he might even have A7.  If he had the bare ace then Id expect him to bet out to see where he is since you've called his raise pre flop he probably puts you on some sort of ace too.

I think he's expecting Boldie to raise UTG with a huge range of hands like the one he has and is reraising with a better hand but not a monster, probably a weak ace or something along the lines of JT.  I think he's testing to see if you're raising with junk or not and your call tells him you're not really strong but have some kind of hand.  If you wanted to be aggressive you could min re-raise and if he was weak he'd possibly fold but probably call, if he was strong he'd shove but I think with your hand you're looking to either take it pre flop with the raise hoping he has nothing and wont play back or see a flop so Id flat call the reraise and see what the flop brings and what he does as first to act.

You're beating AK, AQ, AJ, KT and JT, you dont have a hope against a set but both have flat called your pre flop raise.  If anyone has a set I think it would be JJ, theyd probs raise/re-raise with QQ or KK.

I think the pusher has AK and the caller has KQ/KJ.  Id call against 1 pusher but not against the push and the call, I think you have to fold here.

Id raise like u did preflop, heads up on the button if I play I raise.  Id call the reraise but I wouldnt put him necessarily on a big hand, maybe a weak ace.  We get to see how he acts 1st on the flop
2196  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Live poker tipping on: December 18, 2006, 08:05:21 PM
I wouldn't even consider tipping 10% if the final table was the only self dealt table. Also, as TK pointed out, tipping the dealers is illegal in a licensed UK casino. I tip the hostesses...and always try to ensure they get a half decent amount out of the total prize pool..but it won't ever be ten %..that's just ridiculous.

Ahh, tipping the Valets in Licensed Venues is another matter entirely, it's legal, & should be encouraged.

yes, especially in the smaller buy in comps. quite a few people who show up there only drink soft drinks and tea all night and most of the money the hostesses can make is actually at the roulette tables and such..definetly not the poker table..so to ensure the ones working the poker room get tipped a half decent amount and therefore will want to work in the poker room again tipping from the prizepool is essential IMO.

At the Stanley in Glasgow there are some lovely ladies working in the poker room on a Friday night and Lord knows they are likely to make much less then the ones at the main tables simply because of all the students who only drink the complimentary cokes and never tip on those (after all, they are free)..so a couple of quid from the prize pool is well spent if you want the same great service with a smile every Friday.

the final 2/3 players usually put in a £60ish total tip for the waitresses, I wouldnt expect you to know that though mr. meal for 2  Wink

Oh, and Id usually tip a dealer if he dealt the final table in a self deal tourney when he wasnt in the final, I think taking time out to deal the final allowing everyone else there to concentrate on their game is worthy of a few quid although 10% is pretty high

In his interview thingy during the show he said he'll call to see every flop and take it from there....haha, genius.

Some other hilarious moments were

A6 V Strummers A5 on a AKJ66 board, Strummer fires a bet on the river and he just calls!

3 way pot and he's last to act on the flop, he folds out of turn allowing UTG to push all in on a semi bluff into just 1 player.

Strummer all in with 75 on a 768 rainbow flop, Colonel calls for a large percentage of his chips with JT.  4 on the turn means Strummer only has to sweat out a 9 on the river which misses.

He was also held to calls when string betting attempted raises several times.

Can I ask why you raised the river if you were going to lay down the 2nd nuts to a reraise? Why not just call the $4 on the end and see if he has the nuts?
2199  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: standard of live poker is getting scary.... on: December 04, 2006, 12:20:46 AM
When playing on tables with really bad players you have to change your game entirely, you cant play "good" poker.  As someone has already suggested, playing smaller buy in tournaments is the answer.  If you usually play higher buyins then the prospect of a £10 freezeout or a £5 rebuy may seem like a waste of time but sitting with these players at these stakes is a great way to understand them.
2200  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Call or fold on: November 24, 2006, 03:08:15 AM
Stars $3 rebuy - Freezeout stages

Blinds 100/200 anti 25

1400 players left, 500 paid

Im on the button with 9c9h and call an early position raise from the table CL

I havent been at the table long but he's playing fairly solid in the time Ive been there, I have only played the blinds.  I have around 8k after calling his raise to 700, he has 22k left.

Flop comes J 8 2 all of hearts, opponent pushes all in

So..........call or fold?

I dont see the problem with only showing 1 card if that 1 card gives you the winning hand in a cash game.  Ill usually verbally declare what I have and then show if needed.
2202  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: I want to get away from my hand.... on: November 19, 2006, 09:53:10 PM

you would open jam $21.35 into a pot of $1.85?

Well........no,not after raising it to $0.75 pre flop and getting 1 caller but Id def have raised more pre flop and played it a lot stronger.  When he pushes the turn you're only beating TPTK and a total bluff, if you dont have info on your opponent its safer to fold.
2203  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: I want to get away from my hand.... on: November 18, 2006, 10:08:09 AM
Your pre flop raise is shocking! for $0.75they could be playing any connector, 1-2 gappers with potential.  Your KK is going to be vulnerable on the flop anyway.  If you think you're beat you could think of a Dale pass and give it up but you've put almost a 3rd of your stack in but if you are up against J9 you're drawing dead already.

Personally Id have liked to stick it in on the flop.
2204  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: How would you have played this PL omaha HL hand? on: November 06, 2006, 06:51:37 PM
You played this perfectly, you dont wanna go to showdown here.
