A good friend om mine sent me this today.

THE ONLY SURVIVING PHOTO ALBUM FROM AUSCHWITZ ...

AND SOME SAY THIS NEVER HAPPENED!!!!!

THE ONLY SURVIVING PHOTO ALBUM FROM AUSCHWITZ .

Why it has not been around before is a mystery.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH BEFORE WATCHING THIS........

    LEST WE FORGET!!

    THE AUSCHWITZ ALBUM

This Album memorializes the arrival of Hungarian Jews to
   Auschwitz in May of 1944.

It is the only one of its kind, and it is solely due to this
album that we have a visual history of what occurred in the
   Auschwitz-Birchenau death camp.

The album was discovered after the war by an Auschwitz
survivor, Lily Jacob, who donated it to Yad Vashem in 1980.

Now, with the aid of the Internet, it can be viewed by
millions of people, anywhere in the world.

Please pass this around, to help assure that people will
continue to bear witness to this evil legacy.

Click here to view the Auschwitz Albuum

Speechless.

Going to Auschwitz tomorrow gats, we are taking a paper flower, the kind that the Gypsy women of my generation used to hawk.

More on the miners.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-11071151

"Normally, in such temperatures, an adult would have to drink around four litres of water a day, says Dr Alan Richardson, a lecturer in exercise physiology at Brighton University. It may be difficult to keep them supplied with such a volume"

Why? Is it difficult to get water to go down a 6in pipe?

I guess they can't just pour water down the pipe as they've had to put a special lubricant down it to allow supply capsules to travel down and the lube would polute the water while the water would wash away the lube

the capsules are limited in size and take something like 1/2 hour to travel down (can't actually remember how long)

I have a great idea for a roulette party. You put 37 songs on your ipod, each song represents a number. Everyone places a bet, you hit the shuffle button and Bob's your uncle. The winners get paid, then everyone places their next bet and has a bop until the next song comes on.

Is that brilliant or what?

I like it

As well as betting on individual songs you could have other bets too
A-M/N-Z type bet song title
similar to above with artist name
under/over line on song length
male or female artist
dead or alive artist
genre bets

18 R&B tracks, 9 male singers, 9 female singers

Something like that

This miners thing has really caught my imagination. I always did love a survival story. I'm not sure how I would cope with being trapped though.

I remember reading John McCarthy's book about the 5 years he spent as a hostage in Beirut.

The thing that terrified him the most was when they moved him to a new location, they would squeeze him in to a metal tool box that was so small he couldn't move his arms or legs, then they would throw the tool box into the back of a truck and drive to the new place, sometimes several hours away.

All the time he imagined his captors getting killed and leaving him in there to die.

I'm sure I would rather have been shot than go into that tool box.
