Actually enjoyed that, Tom.

Must admit I was kinda hoping that when you went on the test drive, it broke down. Sorry about that.

I could not do that kind of stuff if you paid me a million quid, I would have no idea even where to begin.

I was a bit daunted to be honest. I read up on it first and double checked everything. It took me over 6 hours but I could probably do it in 3 next time.

With the inner cover off I removed the variator and the clutch assembly I didn't have the correct tool recommended by Suzuki so I used a 24mm socket and an impact wrench.

I am actually sort of enviously impressed as I haven't got a clue about that sort of stuff.

How will it affect fuel-consumption?

You mean your bike isn't constructed of Tupperware?

Think we need a competition to see who can figure out what that bit was meant to say.....

That's a very astute question for a layman. The answer is quite complicated but basically it will use slightly more around town because of the higher rpm, and slightly less on longer runs because of the lower rpm.

That bit was intentional. There's loads of plastic faff on these scooters that has to be removed before you can get at the good stuff.

I must apologise for the cheese on toast comment. Can we go back to that? At least I knew what you were saying in that thread.

Couldn't tell you a crank shaft from a carburettor.

At least in Pleno's thread I know what the cards are...

Well done on fitting that new flux capacitor thingy anyway. Great read.

Good work Tom, I always found motorbikes fiddly compared to cars and trucks, also even on the old bikes you always seemed to need so many different tools .

Funny how we always want the skills we don't have, I'd give up a lot of my useless theoretical knowledge to have some practical skills.

BTW I was looking through some old posts trying to find a link I'd posted years ago & I found this yesterday, still enjoy watching it.

Do you still have the moped? Could make a hi-tech version with your new motorbike fettling skills...
