I flick it in with Cheesy

I realise this is not the place for strategy... but you just LIMPED with this hand??!!! I can only imagine what Lil'Dave will think when he reads your post!! Smiley

This is a really, really, really good hand at PLO. But it plays much better in a raised pot than in a limped pot (and often, if stacks are deep enough, much better in a 3bet pot than in a raised pot), since raising helps to clean up your flush draws.

Sorry for derail. Couldn't resist.

Also,
I will have a mental photograph of this moment where I finally achieved something.
It'll get you through the impending next three months of misery Wink Bokkers gonna get bokked.

Plays just as well when you hit the straight flush against the nut flush and a full house.

Charlie bets, one fold, I move the effective stack in, and then player 4 starts tanking. This wasn't part of the deal. The more he dwells, the more I realise he has the bare nut flush draw and my "half the deck" draw has been reduced to about ten outs amongst a minefield of bad cards. He does the "well whatever" dance and moves it is as well.

NIIIIICE MOAN pal ... can't believe this one almost slipped in under the radar! World class performance to have the presence of mind to execute it so perfectly during a hand. I am welling up a little right now, with tears of pride. And also... I'm not going to lie... a little jealousy.

on the river. Twelve hole cards get tabled as three players declare, "the nuts." The nut flush got there, Charlie's kings filled up, and I just pinged the straight flush.

Must be nice to run like Usain...

Good going on reaching your target, not the end of the year yet, so maybe another £20k.....? .

Boom! £20k in 9months - sick work Sean. especially considering your hiatus and generally "low" volume and stakes etc. Very well done, you hould be proud of yourself even if you break even for the rest of the year.

Push on though, when confidence is high, its the best time to put in the hours. Maybe even play another big comp?!

Cash game profit.

I always go on sick heaters after I hit the bottom. The more you moan, the more it comes in I guess. I'm like a whiney jetball.

I've set up a few goals for 2012. They're definitely realistic, although I'm not sure if I'm setting the bar a little low. In any event, as a personal and professional lifetime underachiever I'll be proud of myself if I haven't completely given up on life within 30 days. I'll try and keep you all updated on the success or lack thereof.

 - 1,200 hours of poker
 - £20k annual profit
 - 500 gym hours

And somewhere along the lines I would like to

 - Complete a 15k run
 - Stop smoking (I probably only smoke 40/month but I'd love to quit again and actually fucking kick it this time)
 - Move up to £1/2
 - Start a typography blog/website
 - Start playing online
 - Find a backer for live comps
 - Go on at least one trip with Team Eureka
 - Do something for charity (tanking shaving my head, but would have to generate some serious funds for this! Will probably combine this with my run for added motivation.)
 - Invent another signature drink/dish/sauce
 - Win 5 pie flips vs PeeJay

I think that covers just about everything, but it's 6am and I'm truly exhausted.

Well first off, let me say this. How impossibly upset did I used to get over the smallest things?! One thing that wasn't on the list that I've definitely achieved is emotional balance. Most of the credit goes to the people who surround me for that.

1,200 hours of live poker? No. I have missed the occasional day; but most of this goes down to taking two months out, and to the late starts in the Gala games and early finishes in the Dusk games. I think when I compiled this list, they were still doing the CASH GAME BONUS, which attracted lots of players and the games stayed open from 7pm all the way until the 4.30am or 5.30am close, so hours were easy to come by.

£20k annual profit? Check.

500 gym hours? Check.

[  ] Complete a 15k run Something I've learned from running a lot is that I have no ankles to speak of, so I end up twisting or spraining all the time. Scrapped this goal and will think up something in the same vein for next year.

[  ] Stop smoking Nope. Probably don't even smoke 40/month anymore, but it's something that helps focus and deters tilt so I'm going to stick with it for the time being.

[X] Move up to £1/2 Hard to believe this was even on my to-do list.

[  ] Start a typography blog/website Not done this, but I do some typography and web design work for money now. Guess I'll put a portfolio of my decent work together at some point, none of that Project 25 shit.

[X] Start playing online Need to do this more, but I'm happy to tick this box

[~] Find a backer for live comps Not done this, but every time someone's flicked it in for a punt I've pinged it. Not even that bothered about completing this goal to be perfectly honest, but if I could find someone to back and tutor online MTTs that would be a massive boost.

[  ] Go on at least one trip with Team Eureka Still don't quite have the funds. Won't be long though. Marbella next year looking very promising.

[~] Do something for charity Not done anything myself for charity, but have given plenty to charity. Thoughts? Happy to do the 24 hour cupboard bet for charity...

[X] Invent another signature drink/dish/sauce Two drinks, two dishes, no sauces. That counts.

[X] Win 5 pie flips vs PeeJay They stopped doing apple pie before I could complete this bet, but I'm definitely crushing him lifetime food flips. Losing massively to Phil Clarke though.

Good luck with all your endeavours mate, happy to assist/donate any way I can
