The whole hand was a masterclass from both players.

And the aftermath was brilliant for the fans.

I wouldn't normally try so hard, but didn't have another opportunity I could wait for. I wasn't ready to surrender what I WANTED SO MUCH, that easily, I couldn't guarantee a call with me staying stoic and relying on a flinch "top pair" calling reflex.

I'm not going to 'tighty' it today, too tired...

however...

The hand went something like this.

I see a fold from Alex's CO and gaffaw, at which point I have peeled a J and a J.  They are not sooted, but when they match this is expected... I then count out an amount that qualifies to raise the betting limit set by the blinds and straddle - not there this time (wtf tl900000?).

Before I am able to blink the SB has folded and Sean's head is hung and he sigh flicks in the £8 or £10.... to make up the bet and call.

FLOP

The flop is a good one for my range and I choose the option of betting when Mr Belton check's to the raiser as the respectful young man he is...
I make it £17 i believe and expect him to call with most of his Ax, all pairs, some draws/ KcJh type hands and potentially some floats that can pick up equity on the turn.

Sean's sulky look and 'deadpan' durrrrrrrr impression continues and he expertly cuts out the chips from his stack.

TURN

I can't remember which 9 it was but I don't feel like it was the spade one and I know it wasn't the club.

He takes a few seconds, semi looking at me as though I ought to do something and I realize I've missed his checking motion, so smooth and practiced it is.

I think this is a great card and that almost all of his range that isn't a pair now has a pair or draw or some equity... and expect him to think I will bomb these spots too much.  So I make it bigger, think he said after it was £45...

I like the size, don't feel like he can ever really raise here with his stack (220 or so behind I think) and it works well for bluffs and value.  He huffs and puffs a little, taking a little time and then cuts the chippage onto the felt, still staring at it like something might change or appear to rescue his situation....

RIVER

I don't think Sean would play a draw like this very often and when he checks to me I find what I think is an easy value bet with my JJ's... expecting the to look like the perfect final bomb card if I had 'air' of some sort.. and clearly it does hit some of my continuing range that consisted of high cards or the club draws.

I have already worked out the two sizings I will consider - £50 (2x 25 chips) and £108 (4x 25 chips and 2x red one's).... I then reign myself back in, reminding myself that Sean is on the tighter side of spazzy and that he will likely have a stronger range than say (well, lets call him OxfordFelix.... - another livepro in the game).  And since he isn't OxfordFelix we're going to opt for the smaller sizing to get called by Sean's entire paired range, good Ax's and potentially even Q high type hands if he's feeling particularly fruity.

Sean throws in the two black ones as we hoped and I declare "pocket Jacks"

At which point Sean instantly says "I can beat pocket Jacks..." then takes approximately 23 seconds to count out his £1 chips to replace the 2x £25 he threw into the pot, I assume for ease of rake and change for other players....

While the whole table enjoy him re-looking at his hand, he smiles and then tables the ...... and we're all waiting for a 'just called' nute floosh.....    .

You fecking what son?

does not compute.

because I don't expect him to play such a strong hand so meekly from out of position to a superior player..

Hmm, I have no idea what basis you have to call yourself a superior player. And Sean played this hand well IMO
