Will share my tip from the Cycling Thread.

Milan - San Remo this weekend, it's the first of the single day 'classic' races of the season.

J J Rojas currently being offered at 100/1, Sky Bet paying top 4 for E/W bets.  He's on very good form having last week scored a few good stage placings and 4th overall in the Paris-Nice stage race and this race suits his style of racing very well, being a good sprinter who is able to get over the hills with the strong men.

http://espnfc.com/tables/_/league/esp.1/spanish-primera-division?cc=5739

The odds look so wrong to me. All 3 teams look so strong. Athletico Madrid are 8/1 to win the league. Barcelona play Real Madrid on Sunday. A Barcelona win or draw is going to blow things wide open and fresh off a 7-0 win with a Messi hatrick, Barcelona will go into the game confident.

1/3 on Real to win the league looks so short.

You can lay Real at 1.3 on Betfair or back Atletico at 13-1, I've no strong opinion on it though. Your Brendan Rogers  LMA bet looks in good shape btw.

I think this is a very good price for someone who will definitely be there or thereabouts in the final reckoning. Would recommend £10 e/w, due to there being an awful lot of serious contenders. If Fred wants to get on, there are a couple of bookies paying 3 places for the same price. Would crack me up if our man finished 4th, and we were all patting our backs while Tikay sat there with a face like a slapped arse. Haha. I'd have to give him his score back, I guess.

Went to chuck a tenner on with Sky, but the price changed to 66/1, so tried at the new price and they offered me a quid Cheesy

I think that offer on the Man U v Chelsea game was a completely different beast and  had to be taken advantage of. The horse bets of firing a pony at every televised  race on to get a token back if 2nd is boring imo and could be left off Fred for two reasons 1) those who want to grind that sort of betting out can presumably do so and know what ones are value and what isn't and it saves this argument coming up, rinsed and repeated every few months and 2) the admin work for it must be a pain in the hole.

It seems that Tony gets flustered when these bets are expiring and he had to find a home for them queue several suggestions on X number of + 10/1 shots being lofted about.  I would also bet that a number of the recreational punters on here don't have the time, money or will power to keep betting these efforts and just chalk it down to variance when they piss it away. A happy medium has to be struck.  I wonder how many times Channing, Dubai, Chompy etc take advantage of such offers?

Profitability wise even if doobs says he's doing well off Fred I would say these bets have harmed Fred long term I can recall 1 winner from the free bets in the time I have been reading and it feels like we are backing at least 4 a week. No disrespect to Tikay but by the time variance levels out he's  probably more likely to have one foot in the grave, if not both.

I would argue the same point about all the tiddlearse bets if we can't get close to the whole amount on we should just ignore the bets.

That's lightened the tone no end!

Careful what you do with respect, Kmac84.

An old supervisor of mine at uni said the level of respect offered by a barrister was inversely proportional to the level of respect intended to follow.

"With respect..." means "you're an idiot"
"With great respect..." means "you're a massive idiot"
"With the greatest of respect..." means "you are the biggest idiot in the world"

I know of a very senior barrister who responded to a judge's comment with "With the greatest imaginable respect, that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard; in this court or any other"

The opposing counsel shot to his feet and requested an adjournment to save the barrister from being held in contempt.

My bet of £25 @ 11/1 with BWin has now been paid as a winner. Mixed feelings, then, as Fred has missed it.

Should be doable for this to be transferred to Fred ? I has similarly mixed feelings and find it an unbelievable bummer that the winnings are going to go in your pocket rather than your pocket.

I hope no offence was taken at my previous post but Tikay has himself in the past suggested one of the reasons he ias adverse to taking long term positions is you don't know what's round the corner, well that's how I read it.

Anyway, back to the matter in hand making money.

Followers on here may recall that I suggested laying rangers in their home game against Albion Rovers a week or so ago.  I thought the 1.09 was way too short given how they had been playing and struggling at ibrox in recent games. Although winning they had conceded many a soft goal.  On the road they are notably better and don't seem to concede the silly goals as much.

Tonight they are playing Albion in the replay.   The game is not being played at Cliftonhill which is the home stadium of Rovers so they won't have any sort of home field advantage.

I expect that the Rangers will come through the tie this evening reasonably unscathed and think they will prove far too powerful for the Rovers tonight.  I think the Euphoria of the upset at Ibrox will be too much for Rovers to handle and despite the fact they rested almost their whole first team at the weekend I expect this will be to their detriment.

Having a look at the betfair prices and the sportsbooks I think there is a smidge of value in backing  the Rangers -2 @ 11/10 on betfair.  Realistically I think this game will be dead and burried by halftime and would be surprised if Rangers don't win by 4 or 5 this evening.

Hi Tikay, I'm here every day, still read every single post ever on Fred, just have a watching brief when there's nuthin for me to add. I'll update some of our bball bets this week, playoffs start in a few weeks and anyone in Vegas for the early WSOP will get to see some of the games over there. Thought you'd like this exchange from a live chat with support I just had at Boyles, who assure me my acc is not restricted, it's just in some markets the traders choose not to take larger bets:

Megan @ Boylesports
This has been decided by our Traders.

Jeff
1p is the maximum bet they'll take? At a liability of 4p?

Megan @ Boylesports
You may try to lower the bet.

Jeff
lower than 1p?

Yes.

What a sorry state of affairs for the industry when this happens. Don't these firms review this stuff and realise the level of idiots they employ can't get any lower. I sometimes wonder on these live chats whether you are actually speaking to a robot or a person. This evidence sort of backs my thinking up

My, ahem, friends wife had an exchange with live chat at 365 last week on the same day that she had opened an account that was truly incredible.  She had had the temerity to open an account on Champion Hurdle morning and then gone on to back 3 horses in every race and lose 165 quid.  By the fourth race her account was restricted to 1% of what she could have on the first race.  When querying this she was told that it was a trading decision and would not be changed.  Even by the standards in this industry I was staggered.  The rest of the conversation was comical but I fear that by mentioning it it would help to identify the account etc and stop her getting her money.  Suffice to say I don't think you need many O Levels to work the chat there and Geographical knowledge is most certainly not mandatory.  Needless to say i am now, more than ever, determined to win huge amounts of money off that particular firm........every day the chip on my shoulder with these bastards gets bigger!!!
