Keith Elliott certainly needs to take the credit for nappy factor and other emotionally uplifting events like turning 30 and 40 :-).

I wonder if that has changed a little these days as back in the day players needed to play as many weeks as possible and earn as much money as they could in a much shorter season, so they kept playing as often as they could. These days I think players can deffo take more time out to enjoy parenthood and then get back in the swing when they feel ready. Obv there are ten million reasons to want it badly over the next two weeks so this would prob be a different situation where G Mac might want to prove himself to his child etc.

I am a mile behind this week but think this might not be a bad week to have a few bets on the US event. A couple of weeks ago Rory was considering taking this week off to rest up for next weeks Tour Finale, then said he wanted to play coz he really wanted to go and watch the Broncos v Indy NFL game in Denver on the Sunday night. Think I would rather back him next week when it is more important than this week when he seemed 50/50 to play a few weeks ago.  (Some bad weather forecast too so might be worth keeping an eye on that)

Going to try one more cycling bet see if I can get one on the board.

Wednesday 24th September - UCI World Cycling Championships Elite Mens Individual Time Trial.

Paddy Power - Fabian Cancellara to win @ 7/1 - I recommend a punt for a tenner.

Tony Martin is hot favourite to win this as the guy is just a machine, however today in the Tour of Spain time trail, Cancellara completed the back end of the course very marginally faster than Tony Martin which suggests he might have the kind of form to challenge Martin at the worlds and if anyone can beat him it's Cancellara at his very best.

Martin is just not worth backing at 1/2 but at 7/1 Cancellara looks a good bet.

do any of the cycling people have a view on this

Martin rarely loses a TT, so 1/2 could be an instance where a shortie is correct, no?

Cancellara has more of the feel of a cover bet than an outright?

I like it as an e/w bet.
Martin probs should be shorter than he is, he not been at his absolute best this tour, or the last, but may well be just saving a bit for the worlds.

i cannot find this anywhere, not under the cycling section of oddschecker anyway

someone point me in the right direction please

Graeme Mcdowell is part of the field that kicks off the BMW Championships (the third leg of the Fedex Cup playoffs) this week.

He has been relatively strong recently with a few top tens and decent performances in the majors. Looking back over the last 18 months he has actually won on 4 occasions.

Cherry Hills golf course should be all about accuracy with thick rough around the greens. He ranks in the top 20 on the PGA tour for driving accuracy this year and this type of course should suit him.

He is also, in golfing terms, well rested. He opted not to play last week when the majority of the field did. They didn't finish until Monday and have then had to travel 2000+ miles.

Then we have the Nappy Factor. He became a father for the first time just over a week ago.

55/1 with 365. 5 places. £7.50EW?

Bet365 is no go

Coral is 60-1 paying 4 places, or we need a helpful reader to assist.

60-1 top 4?

Just went to do this for Fred ...but now 45/1 unfortunately

It's quoted at PaddyPoor, which doesn't help me at all. Unfortunately the market is for the win outright, and I think the value could be found in the each-way part.

Personally, I can't see anyone beating Tony Martin in the form he is in, but 1/2 is not very attractive ... just look what happened to Quintana today, and he was also odds-on at one point.

If anyone has free bets at WH, they are a bit OOL with Brendon Todd top ten at 14-1 in the BMW, can be laid at 11-1 for those who don't want a sweat.

I also found this:

The climbs being towards the end of the course will not be to Cancellara's advantage either, as he does not climb as well as Martin, Wiggins, et al. Cue him winning the lot.  Cheesy

Does Fred have access to a Betfair sportsbook account?  Seems to me that Daniel Sturridge is value with them at 4/1 to score first tonight anyway but the fact that you can choose to have up to a ponty refunded if Rooney scores first seems like a pretty great offer to me.  Rec taking the full 25 quid.

Can't believe am about to post this but think England are really backable tonight . I took 1/2 with lads but even at current exchange prices looks more than fair to me. Have I lost the plot?

No - you haven't lost the plot.....Norway are pretty awful.  Think it is a combination of all of the hype going out of this England team now (The world cup took the last of it I guess) and the Scandos having a good record against us but that isnt really relevant anymore imo.  I was a backer at 1/2 too.  First time I have bet England in 16 years!!!

Carolina Panthers had a pretty terrible offseason, lost their 3 "best" receivers from last year and their main receiver/main man is gona be a rookie. They also lost 3 offensive lineman to retirement without any solid replacements which means Cam could have a tough time this season.

Couple this with the fact their schedule is atrocious and I think it makes a pretty good spot for a bet.

Schedule:

@ Bucs
vs Lions
vs Steelers
@ Ravens
vs Bears
@ Bengals
@ Packers
vs Seahawks
vs Saints
@ Eagles
vs Falcons
BYE
@ Vikings
@ Saints
vs Bucs
vs Browns
@ Falcons

I make them all things considered a 6-10 7-9 team this year. The line is set at 8.5 I just can't see how they win 9 games from this schedule with their roster this year.

Not sure how much to suggest I guess get some other opinions, but I like it alot.

Suggest X @4/7 (William Hill/B365) Carolina Panthers U8.5 Season Wins.

I wouldn't normally try so hard, but didn't have another opportunity I could wait for. I wasn't ready to surrender what I WANTED SO MUCH, that easily, I couldn't guarantee a call with me staying stoic and relying on a flinch "top pair" calling reflex.

Agreed, and I don't think Atlanta can recover enough to have that good a season either.

I like Tampa to finish 2nd @ .
